You won't make that mistake again, I promise!

And to answer your other question, sometimes it does buckle, yes, but it straightens itself out when the other stitches are made, and when the hat is on the head. I am finding my outside edge buckling or curling.. will this straighten out with the subsequent stitches?? Sorry for all the questions...Singprayzenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525909913783427552.post-13624113017492778402012-04-15T23:51:33.584+10:002012-04-15T23:51:33.584+10:00Well, thats prob. where I took a wrong turn then! ...Well, thats prob. where I took a wrong turn then! Reading patterns is new to me... I did 1 round of 2dc stitches not two! I see now that that is 3. and 4. on the pattern...oops. Well I guess I'll be pulling it apart again. That's ok, it's how I learn. The two increases I did instead made the top too big as you said and the opening now was too wide. :) Thanks for your replies, they are very helpful and btw, your daughter is so cute!!! :)Singprayzenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525909913783427552.post-81395215123813993632012-04-15T07:22:40.450+10:002012-04-15T07:22:40.450+10:00That's a very good question! I find if I make ...That's a very good question! I find if I make the top of the hat wide enough for the widest part of the head (the two rounds of 2dc in each stitch around is usually wide enough for me but it depends on the child's head), then it's a case of stitching rows only for depth. this part of the hat stretches to accommodate when you put the hat on.

I would find if you increased each round, you wouldn't have a fitted hat in quite the same way... but by all means, do whatever you're comfortable with!Veggie Mamahttp://www.theveggiemama.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525909913783427552.post-36018646258295682962012-04-15T06:28:28.505+10:002012-04-15T06:28:28.505+10:00yes, that makes sense thanks...I also had another ...yes, that makes sense thanks...I also had another question. I'm working on the pattern above as my first project, other than just practicing stitches. I came to a problem though, I'm finding I need to "increase" the pattern instead of just doing 1 dc in each stitch all the way around repeatedly. My first attempt I was just crocheting in a tube like fashion...the opening of the hat could fit an 18 inch baby doll head, not a 6-9 month baby!! So my second attempt I did an increase after the 20 dc's. How does the hat get wider in your pattern without an increase??Singprayzenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525909913783427552.post-68971592726291113552012-04-13T13:05:17.466+10:002012-04-13T13:05:17.466+10:00It's pretty much the same, just a little bit b...It's pretty much the same, just a little bit bigger. And for the trim, the contrasting colour is just the wavy part, not a row of single crochet in that colour, then the wavy part. I hope that makes sense... :)Veggie Mamahttp://www.theveggiemama.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5525909913783427552.post-4575487677437749562012-04-12T13:02:54.482+10:002012-04-12T13:02:54.482+10:00Hey, question...the hat to the right of these comm...Hey, question...the hat to the right of these comments the pink one with burgundy trim and flower, is that the same pattern as the one you gave us above??
